Overview

HGH Fragment 176-191, often called "HGH Frag" or the "lipolytic fragment," is a synthetic peptide consisting of the last 16 amino acids of the human growth hormone molecule (positions 176 through 191). This C-terminal fragment isolates and amplifies the fat-burning effects of full-length HGH while eliminating the growth-promoting and insulin-antagonistic effects. The result is a peptide that is 12.5 times more potent than HGH for stimulating lipolysis without raising IGF-1, disrupting blood glucose, or promoting tissue growth. It is widely researched as a targeted fat-loss compound, particularly for stubborn adipose tissue.

Mechanism of Action

HGH Fragment 176-191 works through mechanisms distinct from full-length HGH. Rather than binding to GH receptors, it acts primarily on beta-3 adrenergic receptors (β3-AR) in adipose tissue, stimulating lipolysis (the breakdown of stored triglycerides into free fatty acids) and inhibiting lipogenesis (the formation of new fat cells). This dual action makes it particularly effective at reducing existing fat stores while preventing new fat accumulation. Importantly, the fragment does not activate the JAK2/STAT5 pathway responsible for HGH's growth and IGF-1 effects, so it does not cause water retention, joint pain, insulin resistance, carpal tunnel symptoms, or any of the anabolic side effects associated with full-length HGH. Research suggests it may also enhance fatty acid oxidation, encouraging the body to use mobilized fat as fuel.

Key Benefits
  • Targeted fat loss without anabolic or growth-promoting effects
  • 12.5 times more lipolytic than full-length HGH
  • Particularly effective on stubborn adipose tissue
  • Inhibits formation of new fat cells (anti-lipogenic effect)
  • Does not raise IGF-1 or disrupt blood glucose
  • No water retention or joint pain associated with HGH use
  • Does not suppress natural GH production
  • Compatible with cutting, contest prep, and body recomposition protocols
  • Favorable side effect profile compared to full-length HGH
  • Can be used during fasted cardio for enhanced fat oxidation
Side Effects & Safety
  • Injection site redness, swelling, or irritation
  • Mild flushing or warmth following administration
  • Possible transient headache or lightheadedness
  • Slight increase in heart rate due to beta-adrenergic activation
  • Possible mild hunger suppression in some research subjects
  • Generally considered to have a favorable side effect profile
  • Not approved for human use; sold strictly for research purposes
  • Long-term safety profile in humans has not been fully established
  • Consult a qualified medical professional before any use
Research & Stacking Notes

Pairs with CJC-1295 / Ipamorelin for combined GH pulse and targeted lipolysis Stacks with AOD-9604 for synergistic fat-loss research protocols Complements Tesamorelin in visceral fat reduction research Often combined with 5-Amino-1MQ for enhanced metabolic support Pairs with Semaglutide or Tirzepatide in advanced body recomposition stacks Best researched on an empty stomach to maximize lipolytic effect Optimal dosing windows: pre-fasted cardio, post-workout, and pre-bed Pre-cardio dose particularly valued for mobilizing fat as fuel during exercise Typical research dosing: 250-500 mcg, 1-3x daily Total daily dose commonly split: morning (pre-cardio), post-workout, pre-bed Reconstitute with bacteriostatic water; refrigerate after mixing Use within 2-3 weeks of reconstitution for peptide stability
